VCPP – Drawing Ellipses & Rectangles

Today finally I could find a way to draw a rectangle & ellipse using mouse event handling, and this code works by pressing left mouse button for a rectangle & the right for an ellipse. Apple’s iPhone – Battle for the Zune Microsoft Cruxer – All things in a small phone!

The Mac/tech web has been all about the iPhone over the last few days. First it was the hype and exuberance of the new device, then people started to think about the limited information Jobs presented and speculate about the reality of the iPhone — what it is, what it isn’t. For some, this resulted in a pretty dramatic reversal of their opinion on the iPhone; others simply listed some concerns about the device that really were requests for more information rather than some sort of judgment.

We won’t know until June what the iPhone really is. We might see some real-world reviews beforehand, and from there we can start getting a feel for how good (or immature) this device really is.

Phil Schiller demos the iPhone for CBS’ John Blackstone, and it is impressive, especially when you see how well Apple nailed the user interface goals. The GUI and navigation aspects are simply amazing, and the phone seems quite responsive despite all the eye-candy. There’s cross-fading, real-time zooming, and incredibly smooth scrolling. As the iPhone line matures and diversifies, Apple is going to sell millions of these things

Its quite interesting to note you need to specify the co-ordinates, intensity, gravity, glow, texture, randomness, point/position each time you get to start the matrix effect. A nice piece of scripting that has caught good background work.

de`Foss 3 days

Saw my dear school friend long days after as now he’s being working in a motor mnc, guessed right as ford. Kapil is now working quite heavy tight on a small new revolutionary Scropio Lxi design in his cad suite today at Ford.
Sounds interesting to note the rounds yet steeper and large LeT for LXi than for DXi. That’s not upward compatible! Thats what they seem to be a management stragedy. Take a compensatory off dear.

Elections around the corner. Blarring speakers and nostaligisa of humurous promises and poems yet surmounts in Township.

Lug meeting #3 was held in the mini auditorium, and every thing seemed quite nice until my witched hands fell on the laptop. Not able to control the screen resolution, all damn monitor turned black. Just could never imagine the presentation could just go bad, and what mage us wonder had been quite a game I played switching between a mix of black and white. Showed the videos on LAFKON trusted computing and XGL. The ultimate sense had percevied up to reach by this video we hope to distribute more off in some manner that could help to make up something …

la`Conver`ita 06 -IT Syposium

Come dawn awaiting on for the great event held at my college, a technical symposium held in the name of Converita (meant to reframe protocols.. sounds crap does’nt it?). A fact being the same name as my IT Co-ordinator Hari.G had a coincidental facet with one Hari Gudu, delivery manager from Infosys who had come to grace & preside the ocassion over there as cheif guest.To say about all damn lethargic evenings we spent on that eve would be quite be a tale so long as a nile rather mile.Further the intro had never been so long been frusturated for audience’s patience had been held to a test for upto 20 minutes.

Missing codecs,Errorenous extensions,Incompatiable audio and video drivers,Unsupported Formats had made quite a big fuss over there in the main auditorium.Further the KLC codec was installed (but I failed to re-boot the OS in Laptop,and missed a humorous ending track during 2nd video) ,further we changed player configuration version too,but it had been quite a grave disaster being a streaming video one rather than seeking-and-set version.Further setting the intros had been quite well finalised and all credits really reserved with xap literally.Then the comedy track made along with venkat had been a hit, that many had their laughs a stomachful, as it seems.And then what to say about the third wonder presenation that Joshua (my di`e rolemodel`e) had made.It seems he had used a variety of tools like Photoshop, 3DsMax etc rendering and making a compositon with Maya (Still now I have a first hand exerience in this wonderful tool yet).Multimedia Presentaion – Powress had been quite nice going as a past time, in the stuffy lounges of ECE seminar hall,for I had a good time interacting to all guys along from other colleges with Joe as the judge for this Powress.Come home after the valediatory events at audi,felt too miserable with a bad headache in that sultry ambience in the dungeons and had a gloomy night without good sleep until dawn.Loneliness ever haunts me,in a verge until all roses seem to blosoom on my grave.I am always seem to subjected in writing up so called “fast philosphy” even to all my friends, uttering every word on as a hard-beaten lead.Indeed we need a inner depth, so I must try to sublimate myself into many channels of life and walk up until horizons (Struck to old habit..).To put a end to all being alone in a bliss,I really had a wonderful company with the seniors, friends and thoughtful guys,rather made a great start..

M$ Power pointz la`Anime

To get the same Animation in M$ Office Powerpoint 2003 as in Office 2000,try out the following hacks:

1. Use double picture as a template
2. Dont use the pictures as placeholder.Just paste both the picturesn on an empty space.
3. Adjust size if required.
4. After completing all the pastings,from MS photo editor,take the first slide. Select the object and Choose Custom animation,select the desired animation.Then select the second picture and choose the desired animation.
5. Chech the play movie.
6.Double Click Format tool and apply to all other slides.

This seems the only we can get along doing some crap.Other wise we have to use Powerpoint 2000 (or) Staroffice to run the show.(Again it was checked it is not working!).The animation works only for a single copy and not even for multiple
copies.

Crash`d Update.exe

Yesterday I just was installing Video edit magic. It’s a 30 day version from Digit cd. It gave a good capture capability, but when I went to get password from the Seriall.com website, trojan virus came up and created a problem. The problem occurred only in my logging. A update.exe was operating and a *68.dll file was automatically put in the windows /system32 folder every time. Fortunately Quick heal was there. It was invoked and detecting. Complete scan was done. It was going and affecting my HDD memory.
I then uninstalled video edit magic immediately but no use. System Restore was not helping. Last known good configuration was also not working. Then I went to safe mode and then used to quick heal to repair this. Now one msvcr71.dll file is missing as detected by update.exe. So we have to load video edit logic again. But this was wrong as again virus repeated, again detected by quick heal immediately. It is better to have two administrators as even if one fails, other will help to install.

File`System Config’s

XP will generally use NTFS as it’s file system, whereas older DOS’s will use FAT32. Whereas both are fine, there is a size limitation with FAT32, which means you can only save files up to 4 Gb, which in video terms is around 19 minutes. You shouldn’t come across the file limitation in NTFS as it is 16 terabytes minus 64 KB and drives are not yet that big!! If HDD is formatted as FAT32 and you wish to change to NTFS then windows offers an easy way of doing it, but there are a few precautions you need to take first.
Depending on which software you use though, you may find your file size limited by the type of dv-avi file you capture in. There are two types of file, easily identified as Type 1 and Type 2 files. Type 1 has a limit of 4gb as well, so even if you use NTFS you will meet a limit of 19 minutes of capture in one go. Type 2 avi files have a limit, but it’s around 150,000 years in movie length, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Most Editing app’s capture as type 2, but if you are having trouble it’s worth checking you are not capturing as a type 1 file.

Damn d`powerpoint vides

Such a fuss was made on the sympo presentation jogs.It was attempted to check the power point opening in the TV using AMD but it causes flickering at 50 HZ visible. Also only video out is connectable, no audio is possible. When we use a camera handy cam(sony) to record the PPT output directly from the PC monitor , the same flickering is seen. Also it was attempted to record directly the TV out signal of the PC (AMD), but since the signal was bit very weak, poor result was perceived.The DVD recorder records the video signal from a handy cam directly.

Getting a microphone preferably cordless is better, but how to record. The AMD PC has very little memory and though 512 MB many programs are loaded. So ULEAD studio could not open a capture device like sony handy cam.

The recoding first in a handycam is better as it helps editing but the hell a lot disadvantages faced soon are
1. Time waste
2. The battery gets drained faster.
3. The same tape has to be repeatedly are used, as a result it wears out faster and we may not know which portions would not have recorded correctly.

It is very essential to keep the cds carefully, if scratch happens on the tracks, the CD becomes a junky waste esp. the read write ones that tend to be costlier and we cant know if we really got results correctly when we use with a DVD recorder. DVD recorder can record both TV and handy cam signals. We should keep log of all our daily activities for future reference. It will avoid us dong the same old things again and again.ADOBE Premiere was also loaded in the AMD PC but damn it was not working.
One thing we have to learn is how to put power point presentation on a TV display without flicker. In video it is always better to get presentation by a speaker but it do take lot of time to be wasted because writing on a board is taking hell my time.

The ULEAD & Visual studio was not working with the old Philips monitor, as it needs more resolution, however Windows Movie maker is working. The direct recording from a handy cam through ULEAD video studio takes more bytes than through the DVD recorder. If it is a SONY handy cam, it takes only DV format and we cant adjust.

The DVD recorder records the signal in a different unusual format. Though we can play in any DVD player, we cant edit in the ULEAD studio.That is one disadvantage.The ULEAD studio actually captures in AVI format initially just as a TV Tuner card. Later we are able to change to DVD or mpg or VCCD or DV Format. But it takes a long time to edit this as we has to save the file damn slowly. Here we are able to add background music etc! A 52 MB 20 sec clip after editing with adding one mp3 music file became 54 MB in mpg format saving but the same thing in DVD format became 85 MB. So it does not reduce in DVD saving? But a windows moviemaker saves in wmv format which I don`t know whether we can play in a DVD player checked this later and found it is unsupported type. A 2 min AVI raw video takes 432 MB space. Whereas a 4 GB DVD in the DVD recorder take 2 hrs therefore 1 hr — 2 GB so, 2 min will occupy 66 MB that means 7 times more The same was converted by editing to VCD format. We got 19MB only got reduced from 432 MB

Ultimate Goals :
We have to find a way out to reduce space.

When u record in DVD recorder ensure that it is in AV4 (front panel of DVD recorder shall read A4. If it is others it will not record. So select using the second change button in the remote control after going to AV1.Again tried with windows movie maker 25 sec clip takes 91 MB in DV-AVI mode but in best quality mode , it is 1.& MB only for 25 sec ext: wmv but converting from wmv to mpg using ulead tales very long time. So we have to find some other solution. The VOB extension of the DVD Recorder format is not accepted by both windows movie maker as well as ULEAD Studio. So we cant edit the DVD record format. But okay in case of inter video from Nero express. A 714 KB wmv file was converted to 17 MB file when using ULEAD studio converted. A 17 MB wmv file was recorded in MM2 for 3 min in high quality video. Then it was converted in ULEAD… And wow so awesome was the presentation!

Beat d`Distros

Flash MX and other utilities really had been a creditable stuff Macromedia had left for Adobe.Things are going swimmingly right now at college sympos, doing bit in flashy stuff does not quite really matter your ideals, rather a satisfaction being delivered for the cause. Really its streaming ones skills over the dias does makeover a credit. Some jack whose name I cannot well remember just posed a question I wanted to ponder over as on What Streaming flash movies in a Linux mode. Sounds navaric though as in, I wish to play multiple Flash videos for my buddies in multiple Firefox browser tabs with na a crash nor a thread hang. In fact, I’m feeling so confident about the stability that I’m actually composing this entry while a YouTube music video plays in another tab. Nervously, but still.

Really none does comment the Linux multimedia stuff. I know this may sound simple, but there are problems that can crop up, which we have been dealing with one by one. This afternoon, I wanted to build one and tried it across several Linux installations we have handy around the labs.

Here is the success report:
Gentoo- naturally, since that’s the build machine
Ubuntu
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
SuSE Linux 10.1

But these distros did not work in this impromptu test for fear of starting rumors that we don’t plan to support those distros. The task now is to make those distros work just as well.
